Goal Holiday Anyone?

So many of us start scrambling, creating quick goal fixes & perceive the 01/01 the upmost day to KICK off goals. In hindsight we all know that a new year for most is a fresh start, new beginning that creates HUGE motivation BUT what it can also do is add unwanted pressure the feeling of I must start NOW! Then off you go & start your new years goals with maybe not enough TIME. The time to relax, take in the new year that is about to kick off & even most importantly time to spend CREATING the goals you truly want for 2014. The result is a month or two later majority of those new year Resolutions have lost motivation they are KAPUT, you have already burnt out the "Goal Candle".

So I am taking a different approach for the new year.  I am not the most patient chick in the world far from so as MUCH as I want to kick off my 6 new goals i have been creating for 2014 the 1/01/14 this start date does not really fit in because before I kick off these whopper 6 goals I have so excitedly created I really would like to reach one goal first & that is a

GOAL HOLIDAY

WHAT is a Goal Holiday? One were there is no action planning, taking each day as it comes, nothing that  has to be reached & by when. Kind of letting time just happen is that not what a holiday is about? I will still be achieving things, doing things but just LETTING them happen!

PURPOSE of this Goal Holiday? Is just to lap up the past year & start the new one FRESH. Plus I have to be REALISTIC it is school holidays how much goal reaching will seriously get done? But not just that I want to not fall into the "new year" goal trap mentioned earlier, I am going to be sure to save ALL the motivation energy & when I am ready I am going to kick 2014 goals to the MOON! Pow Wow!!!!

WHEN will the Goal Holiday end? I still set a date for this for if I did not how will I know when to start my NEW 2014 Goals and everything has a start & an end. So February is my kick off (school goes back) yep the whole month of January is a "goal holiday" but just think how amped I will be for February along with a kick ass action plan for the upcoming goals that I have in store!

BUT yep a huge but I will be very mindful this January month to keep momentum with runs here & there, balanced eating so I don't blow out, pick up a book & have a light read (all most finished one!), start reviewing my NEW diploma, dibble dabble in Goals 2b Reached work.

As I mentioned a Goal Holiday is just no planning living day by day, no reminder lists, shopping lists, or any list at all for that manner just me & time going by with the bonus of spending it with my family

So I leave you with these Q's that you can ask your self
                                    "Is the 1/1/2014 your right start date for your 2014 goals?"
                                                          " Do you need a goal holiday?"
                                          " If so what is your goal holiday start & end date"
                                 "How REALISTIC are you benign with kicking off your 2014 goals?"
                                            "You know a goal holiday sounds good right?"

So join me enjoy a "Goal Holiday" start your year FRESH,RELAXED, CALM just so you can create ENERGY for your 2014 goals I know I will be!

4 ways on how to Goal Reflect

There is just 1 main purpose mantra you must remember in order to motivate yourself in DOING this & it is simple

"Goal Reflection = Wisdom for future goal creating!"

When to do this is NOW, majority of us seem to do it in the new Year but the New Year should be a time of not looking back but looking forward, starting fresh & CREATING new Goals for the new year!

This week I have done my own goal reflection I share what goals I have reached, not reached & so close to reached (I am not perfect but I am honest!) I also talk about the strengths & weakness of each goal. Click the link to watch

Time spent on this should only take 15mins-30mins this time of year is about relaxing, spending time with family & enjoying a break! However spending NO time on doing this can allow negative feelings about the new year, poor goal creating for the new year & lack of motivation for the new year and this is totally not the way to perceive a New Year and new goals!

Below are 4 Steps on how to Goal Reflect

Step 1- Tools- Pen, Paper & your Mind
Easy, not expensive & we all have each them so no excuses. These three tools have to work in sync just thinking about your past goals is called "thoughts" great first step but putting pen to paper allows the perception of "looking on the outside in”. The lovely Lauren our love your goal guru (http://goals2breached.com.au/lovely-lauren/) she quotes the following about putting pen to paper

 it means that you send the thought process through your neurology in such a way to tell your pen what to write. This is a different experience as to when you are typing its more powerful for your unconscious and conscious mind. With some research too, hand writing allows for a particular process in the brain to function which is called ‘Spatial Relations’ this means our mind prioritizes what is important emotionally to us and creates meaning to what we write”

Step 2- Open the door to Honesty
“ It’s a puzzling thing. The truth knocks on the door & you say ‘go away, I’m looking for the truth’& it goes away. Puzzling?” quoted by Robert M.Pirsig. Funnily enough this is true in order to achieve the best results of goal reflecting is to listen to the knock and be sure to answer it! How to be honest can’t be taught or shown how to do but try to remember these two things about being honest with this goal reflecting
·      It is private, once you have done this goal reflection you are not obliged to show or tell anyone (unless you want to like I did!) it is just you, a pen, paper and your mind so no-one is judging you.
·      Whilst being honest with yourself always be kind to yourself no-one is perfect & that is not the aim of goal reflecting try to say to yourself “ I am not perfect but opening the door to honesty is allowing to seek the truth of my goal journey lessons” that is exactly what it is learning!

3) Write, Write, Write
Okay so you have step 1 & step 2 all set to go now it is action time here is what you can write for your Goal Reflection.
Name the Goal, if it was reached/almost reached/not reached, how the goal made you feel, s below are a few examples

“ Running Goal to 80-  REACHED! The goal was the best goal reached for 2013 I felt focused & the results gave better fitness creating extra focus which was the strength of this goal. Weakness of this goal even though reached was that close to the end just running for myself I became a little bored”

“Speaking 5 Langue’s of love to Hubby & Children- Only half reached do not feel completely reached. I attempted this goal but believe that I made the goal to big making it a huge weakness. It needed to be more specific and only focusing on love language at time seems more reachable. The strength however with this goal is that it has created the motion of discovering that the love language of quality time for my family is quiet strong”

As you can see it does not have to be grammatically correct, long or short & not written out perfect. It is just like journal writing but for goal reflection you are just making sure that you state the goal, your feelings around the goal, strengths, weakness & where you got to with the goal allows you to make discoveries of hidden goal wisdom!

4) Keep your Goal Reflection close by
Once you have done this keep your findings in a safe place because now that you have done this goal reflection you can pull out your writings and read over them when you are creating your New Goals for a New year!

Taking the 15-30min to do this Goal Reflection you will find that you feel these three awesome goal feelings

* Wiser
* Focused
* Motivated for 2014!!!

What are you waiting for now is the time to do your Goal Reflection “create wisdom for your future goal creation”

My first year being a Kindy Mum!

This year was my first year of experiencing being a "school mum" yes my children have gone to preschool but it is WAY different it is a whole brand new world. Here is what I have discovered being a first year kindy mum...........some of you will nod, some of you might take some things away & hopefully some of you in the end will provide me with some extra TIPS in the upcoming schooling years!

1) TIME FLIES- Quickest year of my LIFE so far yes I am not exaggerating this year has just gone with a BLINK of an eye so brace yourself this is where it all the time GOES & quick!

2) LUNCH BOX & FOOD - Few lessons learnt in this one!
* Pack medium - Don't pack little but don't pack large. they won't starve I promise at least three things come back home
* FRUIT DOES GO YUCK!- Warmer months I will be honest I don't pack fresh fruit I was but discovered it totally goes YUCK & it comes back not eaten I totally don't blame them I would not eat it either. So instead I packed packaged dried fruits & the squeeze ones they have NO excuses. Where I now put in the fresh fruit in their diet is with breakfast, afternoon tea or dessert, at least I know they are eating IT!
* Hungry Bears- After school have something READY it is like they have never seen food before! I do a fruit salad every arvo as I mentioned I don't really pack a lot of fruit for school so this where I give most of the fruit intake of their day.
* Canteen every day- No i did not give it everyday but be PREPARED they will ask for it everyday like a broken day record! Establish what day they will have Canteen & WHAT lunch or snack?
* Jamie Oliver Lunch box- Don't even bother trying! I would try a few cool new things to mix it up so she would not get bored but they don't care, they just want what they like so don't feel bad if it is vegimite, egg sandwiches every day as long as they eat that is all that matters save your Jamie for the afternoon tea or on weekends

3) CRAZY CAR-PARK- This totally amazed me school pick up & drop off the MADNESS of the carpark . I have had a few chuckle moments to myself whilst sitting back & watching a few road rage incidents, stressed out parents DYING to get OUT &  how everyone is just PUSHING it is like Xmas carpark shopping every morning &  every arvo. I am probably one of those people that other "school mums" get the pooh's with because I just let everyone in because we are all going to get out of the CRAZY carpark eventually!

4) ATTITUDE PLUS - First term finished and it was all over read rover I now had a independent child that was filled with "NEW" attitude! This one was a head turner from the braided little innocent child with her "first day" photo to a child that went to "well I am at school now don't you know!" all sorts of words come back it is like they have learnt a new language! Patience & deep breathing is suggested here along with sticking to your guns if there is something you don't like keep to your GUNS remember CONSISTENCY is the key to effective parenting!

5) MORNING ROUTINE- This really plays a part of making it a smooth ride so you don't drop off on a bad note. U get ready FIRST & let them watch TV I still let them watch it HOWEVER as soon as they wake up I let them & then it was off when it was breakfast time & getting dressed time.  I had an amazing tip given from Dr Kristy Goodwin from every chance to learn (http://everychancetolearn.com.au) about TV before school & it is suggested that they have NO screen time at least 30mins before school please go check her out & ask about it she will be more than happy to suggest technology tips. Really when you think about it topic of argument is majority about TECHNOLOGY! You do have to discover the  "right" routine that suits your family for morning time but when you do STICK to it especially the one that has no arguments in it.

6) HOMEWORK- yes they do get a "tiny" bit & that word I totally mean but my take was that if I start the ROUTINE NOW I hope it will become second nature & there hopefully won't be as MUCH drama in the future (yes I did say as much because I am sure there will be a little) afternoons SCRAP don't even bother exhaustion is in & all they want to do is either talk your ear off, chill out or play so let them. Best time is MORNING fresh as a button & they get it done quicker without the arguments.

7) FEELING OLD "MOMENTS"- I mean us not the children! There will be moments & I do stress the word "moments" were you feel old but you are not really old (if that makes sense) when i wrote kayla's notes to the teacher is when i did never pictured myself doing it lol! This whole year has brought back SO many memories of all my schooling years which is nice to reminisce some great ones & some sad ones but I could not believe how much I had remembered I totally thought I had forgotten so be prepared you may get that "old" moment!

8) THE JOY- The first year of school is such an awesome one I think because it is just a HUGE leap & a year of change not only in your kindy child but in you as well. The reading, writing & new skills that they are learning just blows me away it truly is exciting for them. For as the mums it allows some little extra time up our sleeves that starts to get your life back so with that you do start to think "WHAT DO I WANT?" so this is a year were you may learn & discover more about yourself which I think is totally EXCITING!!

So as sad as it may feel sending your little one for the first time (you think they are little) they are TOTALLY READY for it & SO ARE YOU! The first year be open to a WHOLE new way with your child & with yourself , I know as a "school mum"  this is just the first year & have SO much more learning to do during these school years. SO if you are seasoned school mum I would love to know what lessons, tips, discovers you have learnt I am sure I will need all the amo I can get!
