My first year being a Kindy Mum!

This year was my first year of experiencing being a "school mum" yes my children have gone to preschool but it is WAY different it is a whole brand new world. Here is what I have discovered being a first year kindy mum...........some of you will nod, some of you might take some things away & hopefully some of you in the end will provide me with some extra TIPS in the upcoming schooling years!

1) TIME FLIES- Quickest year of my LIFE so far yes I am not exaggerating this year has just gone with a BLINK of an eye so brace yourself this is where it all the time GOES & quick!

2) LUNCH BOX & FOOD - Few lessons learnt in this one!
* Pack medium - Don't pack little but don't pack large. they won't starve I promise at least three things come back home
* FRUIT DOES GO YUCK!- Warmer months I will be honest I don't pack fresh fruit I was but discovered it totally goes YUCK & it comes back not eaten I totally don't blame them I would not eat it either. So instead I packed packaged dried fruits & the squeeze ones they have NO excuses. Where I now put in the fresh fruit in their diet is with breakfast, afternoon tea or dessert, at least I know they are eating IT!
* Hungry Bears- After school have something READY it is like they have never seen food before! I do a fruit salad every arvo as I mentioned I don't really pack a lot of fruit for school so this where I give most of the fruit intake of their day.
* Canteen every day- No i did not give it everyday but be PREPARED they will ask for it everyday like a broken day record! Establish what day they will have Canteen & WHAT lunch or snack?
* Jamie Oliver Lunch box- Don't even bother trying! I would try a few cool new things to mix it up so she would not get bored but they don't care, they just want what they like so don't feel bad if it is vegimite, egg sandwiches every day as long as they eat that is all that matters save your Jamie for the afternoon tea or on weekends

3) CRAZY CAR-PARK- This totally amazed me school pick up & drop off the MADNESS of the carpark . I have had a few chuckle moments to myself whilst sitting back & watching a few road rage incidents, stressed out parents DYING to get OUT &  how everyone is just PUSHING it is like Xmas carpark shopping every morning &  every arvo. I am probably one of those people that other "school mums" get the pooh's with because I just let everyone in because we are all going to get out of the CRAZY carpark eventually!

4) ATTITUDE PLUS - First term finished and it was all over read rover I now had a independent child that was filled with "NEW" attitude! This one was a head turner from the braided little innocent child with her "first day" photo to a child that went to "well I am at school now don't you know!" all sorts of words come back it is like they have learnt a new language! Patience & deep breathing is suggested here along with sticking to your guns if there is something you don't like keep to your GUNS remember CONSISTENCY is the key to effective parenting!

5) MORNING ROUTINE- This really plays a part of making it a smooth ride so you don't drop off on a bad note. U get ready FIRST & let them watch TV I still let them watch it HOWEVER as soon as they wake up I let them & then it was off when it was breakfast time & getting dressed time.  I had an amazing tip given from Dr Kristy Goodwin from every chance to learn (http://everychancetolearn.com.au) about TV before school & it is suggested that they have NO screen time at least 30mins before school please go check her out & ask about it she will be more than happy to suggest technology tips. Really when you think about it topic of argument is majority about TECHNOLOGY! You do have to discover the  "right" routine that suits your family for morning time but when you do STICK to it especially the one that has no arguments in it.

6) HOMEWORK- yes they do get a "tiny" bit & that word I totally mean but my take was that if I start the ROUTINE NOW I hope it will become second nature & there hopefully won't be as MUCH drama in the future (yes I did say as much because I am sure there will be a little) afternoons SCRAP don't even bother exhaustion is in & all they want to do is either talk your ear off, chill out or play so let them. Best time is MORNING fresh as a button & they get it done quicker without the arguments.

7) FEELING OLD "MOMENTS"- I mean us not the children! There will be moments & I do stress the word "moments" were you feel old but you are not really old (if that makes sense) when i wrote kayla's notes to the teacher is when i did never pictured myself doing it lol! This whole year has brought back SO many memories of all my schooling years which is nice to reminisce some great ones & some sad ones but I could not believe how much I had remembered I totally thought I had forgotten so be prepared you may get that "old" moment!

8) THE JOY- The first year of school is such an awesome one I think because it is just a HUGE leap & a year of change not only in your kindy child but in you as well. The reading, writing & new skills that they are learning just blows me away it truly is exciting for them. For as the mums it allows some little extra time up our sleeves that starts to get your life back so with that you do start to think "WHAT DO I WANT?" so this is a year were you may learn & discover more about yourself which I think is totally EXCITING!!

So as sad as it may feel sending your little one for the first time (you think they are little) they are TOTALLY READY for it & SO ARE YOU! The first year be open to a WHOLE new way with your child & with yourself , I know as a "school mum"  this is just the first year & have SO much more learning to do during these school years. SO if you are seasoned school mum I would love to know what lessons, tips, discovers you have learnt I am sure I will need all the amo I can get!

10 tips on how to avoid xmas GOAL EXTINCTION!

Yes Xmas is near but don't get yourself in the goal trap of putting things on HOLD it really amazes me hearing so many people say "NO won't start that I will wait till the new year". In theory I can appreciate this xmas is busy but it is not like the world is going to end. My suggestion still keep reaching at least 1 GOAL why? It keeps the momentum going which avoids what I call "GOAL EXTINCTION" so below is 10 tips on how you keep your GOAL MOMENTUM rolling

1)    KISS your Goals- Keep It Simple Sensible; really starting a elaborate goal is well & good 10 points but REALLY? At the busiest time just KISS start the big one in the new year! Choose 1 yes only 1 goal that you would like to still be reaching
2)    ME GOALS- These are the goals to focus on! Things like “ I am 2b organized for xmas, I am going 2b Calm for xmas, I am going to watch what I eat at xmas, I am going to walk once a week (hey it is better than NOTHING!)
3)    ACTION PLAN- Now is the time to action plan so choose that 1 Me goal & action plan it for the next month with no action plan there is no start to the goal reaching journey
4)    TWO ARMS & LEGS- I hate to tell you but yes you are not an octomum with 8 arms! Beware that you can’t do it all this is the time of year PLUS still reach 1 ME goal  to make sure you are getting support from your partner & children! 10c a gift wrap that the children can do (of course not Santa’s gifts!) or make a deal for every gift that lover boy wraps add’s up to “cuddle time” watch how fast & how many he will wrap!
5)    ANOTHER TIME- Invites, Parties, Catch ups, anyone would think that the world is going to end! Saying “yes” is awesome but can go to all of it?? Why not do the “catch up” in the new year or another time? It does not mean that you love them any less as I said the world is truly not ending!
6)    EARLY BIRD CATCHES THE WORM- We tend think that if we stay up real late we will get everything that we need done? Yes sometimes true but 7 days of the week, try to at least hit the sack three times a week at reasonable hour BUT set the alarm for 5:00am & do your extra hours in the morning the early bird truly does catch the biggest worm!
7)    HAVE A LAUGH- Don’t forget about your xmas cheer kids are watching & you don’t want to start children’s perception of Xmas is Mummy going MENTAL! Get in the photo with Santa, write a letter to him, knock on someone’s door & sing them a carol whatever it is make sure it makes you LAUGH!
8)    1 hour CHILL- Okay so let’s be realistic the chill time factor not going to be hours but hey 20mins is better than NONE! Make sure when you are doing action planning for your goal you put in there at least three times a week 1 hour of CHILL! If you can do more BONUS but please it is better than going with out NONE!
9)    2014 MOTIVATION- Start to have some what I call “Goal Thoughts” what goals can you start get excited about? What new goals do you want to kick off? Knowing this is what will make you motivated but remember you are just focusing on 1 goal at Xmas time so it is just a “Goal thought” at this stage
10) THE BEST GIFT OF ALL- in the scheme of things focusing on just that 1 ME goal is the best gift you can give yourself at xmas. No one want’s “GOAL EXTICTION”

Success Secrets for your Career

Another book bites the dust

Don't want to the read the blog would rather watch it? Click below link
https://vimeo.com/79515787

This time around I choose a book about Success Secrets for my Career not so much for my business. Kate White has been the editor in chief of five magazines including the cosmopolitan PLUS the author of many other books & also whilst reading discover that she is a mother so this book was right up my alley!

Kate shares ALL of her experiences whilst making it to the top along with how she did it plus what she found works & what does not. My favourite things that  I  walked away with  are the following

1) Drain the Swamp as you slay the alligators!
LOVE IT totally made so much sense & keeping this one under my belt here is an extract from the book

"when your up to your ass in gnats & alligators, it's easy to forget that the initial objective was to drain the swamp" which means that when your working toward a long term goal (draining the swamp), your time & energy can be eaten up by urgent, daily tasks (slaying alligators) that don't
necessarily aid you in achieving more important future objectives"

2)Devlop a Golden Gut
Kate states that it is never to soon to begin devloping your gut & there tricks that she has shared that have served her best. I think this was important to me for I know we all have it & most of us choose to ignore it then wallow in the mess had we just followed our GUT! Here are just 1 point that she covers on how to make your golden gut stronger but she covers at least 5 others which are just as a good!

* Just shut up- Once you have learnt to tune in with your gut the secret is to LISTEN TO IT!  she actually got the best advice for this from a lady called Barbara Butcher the chief of staff & director of Forensic Sciences Training Program in New York city she states

"Everything we need to know is around us for the taking as long as we are truly taking it in, I learned early on that if I was told that I was going to investigate a homicde I did but if I remind myself that I was going to investigate the cause of death then I would find the truth!"

So keeping the mouth shut & absorbing what surrounds can enable you to connect with your gut which in turn makes it golden!

3) My kids are not serial killers yet!
I just love it how she shared not only career tips & tools but how she handled doing it being a mother. Kate was honest & never sugar coated hence why the chapter is called "My kids are not seril killers YET!" she shared that she was not perfect but she did share important things whilst on the job &
on the home front. My favourite part was how she explains when you have just picked up the kids from day care or have just stepped foot in the door from work

"You want to give that attention, but you probably feel better able to if you could quickly brush teeth, leaf through the mail, & throw something into the microwave. but kids don't get that concept. At moments like this, I think it pays to be a "just-in-time" mother those ten minutes on the swing set now can save you hours of whining repair later!"

Of course the book covers EVERYTHING else with Career such as

* How to nail a job interview
* 4 tips for masterfully managing your boss
* What to do when things change within your job/career
* How to own a room
* How to come up with bold brilliant idea's
* Time Management
* Men, Love & Success

& much much much more that  she has either been given, learnt, discovered or created herself throughout her amazing professional life!

The book is set within the industry of working for large corporation or in a Magazine company but you can implement loads of what Kate has written about in any Career small or large, business or no business I know I did.

My suggestion is that this book can be read by anyone that would like to reach a goal of having a successful career & how to do it whilst keeping your true yourself intact. It would be HIGHLY suggested to those of a younger age to get a head start plus starting your career off in the right direction!

If you like to find out more about the book or Kate here is a link http://katewhite.com/books/i-shouldnt-be-telling-you-this/

& if you would like to purchase the book please purchase at the Goals Store under Bee's Books- http://goals2breached.com.au/store/

Totally loving this Reading Goal learning LOADS now for the next two books to reach my 6 books in 6 months stay tune for what read is next!!!!
